To be a princess…

This is a feeling so many brides have on their wedding day. They rarely come out and say it, of course. But when they see their hair sculpted into a glamorous do, and their makeup enhances that warm glow and makes the eyes pop, and when the dress has been donned, they look into a mirror and the thought comes to mind: “I look like a princess.”

completing Jillian's look

How true it was for Jillian.

Jillian is a blonde beauty with sparkling eyes. She spent time on Pinterest searching for her look. Having planned a trip to Key West some 6 months ahead of time, she gave herself plenty of time to figure out the details. We met for a trial then and discussed her thoughts.

“The inspiration was to have a natural look that would work for the beach – hair up and out of the way and natural makeup,” said Jillian. With this general concept in mind we spent time creating the look. “By the time I left I felt like a princess,” Jillian told me.

On the wedding day, my team and I met Jillian at The Reach in Key West. While the team worked with the bridesmaids, I spent time one-on-one with Jillian. I styled her hair into loose waves that were pulled together at the back – beautiful, yet secure. Jillian’s makeup includes individual lashes to make the sparkle in her eyes pop, with just the right amount of blush to give color in the midst of a bright beach, so she doesn’t appear washed out but warm and glowing.

How did it hold up? “It was perfect. The makeup last throughout the day and the evening with no touchups,” said Jillian. As for her hairstyle, “I never felt conscious it would fall out. It held up perfectly against the wind on the beach. I had nothing to worry about.”

“That session set the mood for the day. I felt beautiful. The final touches of the hair and makeup with my dress really made me feel special on my day.”

I’m so pleased when a bride feels this way. Whether she has spent her entire life looking forward to that moment, or has only given thought to it since her engagement, that final look in the mirror is an important time. It sets the tone. This is who I am today, she thinks. I am a princess.
