Katie & Her Twin Sister | Fashion Photoshoot in Key West

Katie and her twin sister wanted to have some professional photos taken in Key West.  Katie wanted 3 different looks and had a very clear vision for the shoot. She contacted the Studio, and although I was unavailable, I suggested to book them with Shawn H. and Natalie.

In order to take advantage of the beautiful morning natural light, hair and makeup was scheduled to start at 4am! Everyone was game and so it went. LOVE the photos, the hair and makeup!

Thank you Ozzy Garcia for the gorgeous images and a BIG THANK YOU to Shawn and Natalie for getting up  way before sunrise on 2 consecutive days. The things we do for beauty!

Best Beauty Deals

Shopping for cosmetics and beauty products in general can be rather disastrous for any wallets. I can’t recall how many times I overpaid for goodies that didn’t leave up to their claims, or bought cosmetics on impulse. One particular orange lipstick comes to mind on this one. Hahaha!

I received my July ShopSmart copy.  Between the “Swimsuits that slim REALLY!” and the Best Beauty Deals I didn’t know where to start! The tips on swimwear are really good by the way.

Shopsmart checked out across the country a myriad of top selling products online and in store to find out where the best could be found. With the help of beauty experts they sought out great websites with free samples and advices. SWEET.

For discovering new products and free samples

beautyhabit.com
bluemercury.com
beautysak.com
beautyofasite.com

Theses sites feature high end, trendy, hard to find brands of makeup, skincare and hair products. I especially dig beautyhabit.com with its many European brands. LOVE THIS SITE.
You can shop by brand, price, what’s new, award winner and staff picks. There’s an outlet sale section and free samples on every order.

For bargains on drugstore brands

http://harmondiscount.com/

Owned by Bed Bath & Beyond it’s the leader in low cost cosmetics.  Totally worth checking out for bargains on major drugstore brands! This site also has a baby & kids section as well as a household, travel and health.

The sites below are all about trends. And  great “Steal The Look” tabs where makeup artist reveal how to create your favorite celebrity look. Hair AND makeup. Love that!

For giant selection, freebies and other perks

Beauty.com
Ulta.com
Sephora.com

Huge selection of products and wide range of prices. Free samples with every order and reward programs. A great bonus, these sites offer returns on opened items.

Happy Monday lovelies!!!

Paddling Fun in Key West With “Paddle Republic”

I’m totally hooked!

One of the funnest thing about Key West (beside doing the Duval Crawl Haha!) is to be on the water.  There are many ways to go about it. My favorite lately has been PADDLEBOARDING.  My friends Kristin recently introduced to the board and the paddle.  It was instant love.

Gliding on the scintillating water, looking at the horizon and the mesmerizing sea-life is hard to beat.  Last week we saw nurse sharks and Conch Shells. The Conchs were everywhere.  So if you’re in Key West check out Paddle Reppublic.

Here’s a few photos I took last week between sit ups, push ups and Conch Shell veiwing.

Do You Support “The Girls” At All Time?

In order to avoid saggy boobs, one must protect them at all time…

O.K. …. I assume after that first sentence, it’s just us girls here now, so I can be frank.

I realized there’s no scientific evidence to that. Whatsoever. On the contrary some people believe wearing a bra all time may reduce the ligament strength.  Really?  I worry about gravity. I hate to take my bra off. Just my neurosis.

Apparently some people feel differently…

I was talking with Tracey (a local client who’s name has been slightly altered) about my daughter Serena’s obsession with boobs. Or to be more specific her fascination with bra. The child cannot wait for her time to come, and parade in my brassieres as often as she can. She’s even tried them as a hat. Cute.  Not. Well depends who looking.

Tracey: “she’ll get over it when she has to wear one daily. GUARANTEED. That’s the first thing that goes as soon as I get home!” Weeeeeeee!

Me astounded: ” REALLY??? I never take mine off.  I sleep with a bra.  Even If I’m walking around in my birthday suit I hold them.  You bet.  These girls never go without support. NEVER.

So lovelies, do you support the girls at all time? Take the poll.

Lan’s Hair & Makeup – Key West Bride

I had the pleasure to do Lan’s hair and makeup for her Key West wedding last week. I absolutely love doing makeup and hair on Asian brides.  Incredible skin, bone structure and gorgeous lips. Lan’s definitely fitted into that category.

Lan’s knew exactly the look she was going for and had brought in several photos for both hair and makeup.  I waved her hair slightly before gathering it down low.  Her stunning hairpiece works so well with the earrings.

Light purple and pink shimmer was Lan’s request, which looked great with her brown eyes and skin color. To enhance this look we filled her brow, added a false lash, made her skin look flawless, bronzed, added a soft peach mousse blush, and finished with a champagne shimmery lip.

Absolutely radiant!  Congratulations Lan!

Simply put it was a phenomenal past 3 days

I you LIKE us on Facebook you probably know I was attending over the weekend a “Bridal Editorial Styling and Cutting workshop”.  I came back last night completely inspired and so proud to be a part of this amazing industry.

I find continuing education not only fantastic because I get to surround myself with some ot the most talented, creative masters hairstylists in the world, but because I come back to you my clients, full of idea and new things to try.

On the last day we got to watch an editorial photoshoot.  These images barely give a glimpse at how exciting and lengthy the process truly is. I didn’t want to leave!

The process to create this hairpiece was beyond fascinating. I had such a great time.

Oh! And my rug latch hook came in so handy.

Have a fantastic Tuesday everyone!!!

What Do A Rug Latch Hook And Hairstyling Have in Common?

A lot apparently.

It all begun 5 months ago when I signed up for “Bridal Editorial Styling & Cutting Workshop”. The name alone had me giddy with excitement. Then I received the academy tool list.  The Rug Hatch Hook got me all worked up. In a good way.

I’ll be heading to Miami tomorrow evening and I CANNOT wait. You hear me? CANNOT.

Nothing like being immersed for a few days with amazing talented stylists and master educators. Go on rock my world I’m ready!!!

Lovelies I’ll be baaaaack, with some fabulous tricks! Stay tuned for updates

Today Is Random Acts of Kindness Day

Today Is Random Acts of Kindness Day. Randomly be kind to a stranger and make their day.  Anything will do and it sure doesn’t have to cost any money or a lot anyway. And no, Hallmark doesn’t have to be involved either. The goal of the one-day focus is to encourage people to engage in acts of kindness all the time.

Here’s my list of Random Acts of Kindness

  1. Bake something delicious and drop it of at the nearest shelter or retirement home.
  2. Feed someone else’s meter.
  3. You and a stranger are about to pull up  in the same parking spot. Let them have it. What the heck.
  4. Buy a lottery ticket for a stranger.
  5. Give a compliment to someone. How many times have you seen someone wearing a cute dress or a pair of earrings you loved and you don’t say anything.  And just and wish they were yours.  Tell them.  If they’re wearing ugly clothing compliment their hair or teeth.  That works too.
  6. Recommend a competitor to a potential client. (this particular act of kindness takes a very special person to do it)
  7. At your Kids school? Tell the teachers how much you appreciate all they do.
  8. Give your significant other a head massage. Be warned this could lead to something more serious.
  9. Hug someone.
  10. And my favorite… Give someone your biggest and brightest smile.

Happy Random Acts of Kindness day.  And from me, over here behind this computer to you, here’s my most cheerful smile. You look nice btw.

Wanna share another idea?  Leave it here and inspire someone else.

The Free and Worthy Sephora iPhone Case

Hey hey hey!

It’s a good thing I hardly have anything to do and hardly need any sleep. That way I have plenty of time to blog about important matters.

I got my free Sephora iPhone case yesterday.  Since free in my book never equates good quality, my expectations were low.  I mean think about it, when was the last time you got something free that wasn’t total crap?

That theory went right out the window, when I got hit right in the eyeball with the uber cool Sephora iPhone case. Well HELLOOOO.

The giddiness that comes with receiving a box from Sephora makes my toes tingle.

About to get slapped in the eyeball… Watch out, may happen to you…

The case is made out of stiff rubber. Feels almost identical to my iFrogz case that I like so much. Kind of velvety to the touch.

For some reason I was expecting glossy from Sephora. The matte colors surprised me, in a good way.  I also thought the stripes would be all across the back. Had it all wrong. It’s super cool!

Please excuse the filth on my screen as I reach for a cleaning wipe. Gheez.

So now behold, my clean iPhone stylin’ in its new case.

Free and worthy. The small things in life. Have a wonderful day!
