We asked the couple some questions about their wedding below!
How Did They Meet?
Michael and I met in 2007 after I had moved home from San Diego back to Boston and started working at the local family owned restaurant and bar Called Raso’s (and still do part time when I’m not working as a nurse.) He would come in to the bar with his friends for dinner and a couple drinks. At that time I was telling my friends I had a ” crush” on one of my customers; they all knew who he was. I started noticing that he was coming in more frequently he had finally asked me to go out on a date and I was so excited! And from then on we have been together… So now I always joke saying that I have just have made one good damn Captain Morgan and ginger ale (his drink of choice) in order for him to ask me to marry him someday!
Why Did They Choose Key West to Get Married?
As for Key West… I always knew I wanted a destination wedding because I wanted to spend a a weekend celebrating rather than 5 hours and then it’s all over. I wanted it to be a chance for our most loved friends and family to be together on vacation and at the same time celebrate our wedding. Both Michael and I had been to Key West before with our friends and had LOVED it. Not only is Key West beautiful, but it is by far the funnest place for sure! The bars are a blast, the people are quirky, and the laid back feeling is just the best! As soon as the name Key West as a destination came out of my mouth, Mike had no hesitation… To be exact, his words were ” I’ll get married in Key West. Absolutely! I friggin’ love that place! ” and within a couple weeks we had booked a one night stay for Key West ( yes a one night stay from Boston) We flew in on a Saturday and flew home Sunday… We had 3 appointments for venues booked and didn’t even make it to the second one because our first stop was Ocean Key Resort and there was no question…. We need not look any further!
